The purpose of Housing Associations like Ashton Pioneer Homes being ‘iN Business for Neighbourhoods’ can be summarised as follows:
- We are in business for neighbourhoods
- We put our energy into creating places where people want to live
- We invest in a range of services as well as homes
- We are independent social businesses, working with local people and partner organisations to deliver results
Having played an active role in moving this project forward, Ashton Pioneer Homes was one of the first to take early adopter status of ‘iN Business’. Ashton Pioneer Homes is acutely aware that investing in bricks, mortar and home improvements alone does not create neighbourhoods where people want to live. If those neighbourhoods suffer from anti-social behaviour, crime, poor environment or lack of amenities, people will not stay. These issues impact severely on residents' quality of life, making it difficult to create sustainable communities, which in turn impacts on our business aims and objectives.
Ashton Pioneer Homes is positively embracing ‘iN Business’ through the provision of a range of services beyond just housing. By taking the lead and working with our partners in a variety of neighbourhood projects, Ashton Pioneer Homes is keen to address the physical, social and economic challenges facing our communities.
We will achieve this through the provision of a range of affordable rental properties to suit various households, and by pro-actively working with partners, both public and private, to respond to the needs of those who live in our neighbourhoods.
As the leading community-based Housing Association in Tameside, Ashton Pioneer Homes is successfully delivering ‘iN Business For Neighbourhoods’ through a range of commitments and initiatives that include:
- Enhancing its neighbourhood presence and influence
- Promoting public and private investment into our key neighbourhoods
- Adopting a strategy of continuous improvement
- Driving up performance through challenging targets
- Continuing to build on our involvement strategies with local people
- Taking forward our equality and diversity objectives
- Continuing to provide affordable homes for those with a diverse range of housing needs
- Building on existing partnerships and developing new partners to deliver the neighbourhood agenda
- Maximising opportunities for new resources for APH or our partners
- Continuing to invest in the training and development of our staff and Board
- Seeking quality in our housing and service provision
